Gaza Ceasefire Pilgrimage – Warrane (Sydney)
“I want you to look in the mirror and ask, where was I when Gaza was going through a genocide?”
– Rev Dr Munther Issac
This lent (covering both western and eastern calendars), a global movement is walking in prayerful solidarity with the people of Gaza, calling for a ceasefire.
The pilgrimages spanning 173 cities in 19 countries, have been organised by Christian groups and leaders in response to the calls of Palestinian Christians in the Holy Land and the diaspora asking for support from fellow Christians across the world.
The pilgrimage symbolically mirrors the walk from Gaza city to Rafah which Palestinians have been forced to take because of Israel’s military assaults and forced evacuations.
The Sydney GCP walk will begin at St Leonard’s station and walk to North Sydney and Milsons Point, then walk up the stairs to the picturesque Harbour Bridge walk and descend to the Rocks, Circular Quay, then to the Opera House and finish with prayers at St Mary’s Cathedral.
The walk will take between 2.5 – 3 hours in a family friendly environment. Join us on this walk as we pray, sing hymns and enjoy Sydney’s iconic landmarks – the Harbour Bridge, Opera House and St Mary’s Cathedral.
We are raising funds as we walk. The funds will go to PCIA and will be distributed as follows: 1/3 to go towards housing Gaza families arriving in Australia, 1/3 to helping Gaza families currently in Gaza and 1/3 for advocacy work. Please donate to our cause. Raise money while you walk https://chuffed.org/fundraiser/29444
