SUMMARY:Uniting in Prayer for Peace - Saturday 28 March 2026
DESCRIPTION:Dear Friends and Supporters\, \nThe Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem has announced that traditional celebrations for Easter cannot take place as usual due to the war. The Palm Sunday procession from the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem is cancelled and the Chrism Mass is postponed. The Church is hurting. \nBut hope remains unshaken\, the Churches in Jerusalem remain open and prayers continue. The call from the Latin Patriarchate is to pray the Rosary on Saturday 28 March. \nOn Saturday 28 March\, 7:30PM – 8:30PM\, Palestinian Christians in Australia (PCiA) will be holding a prayer service on Zoom to pray for peace in the Middle East. We will be holding an Ecumenical Service praying the Rosary and reading bible verses and listening to Christian songs. \nPCiA director and spiritual leader Costandi Bastoli will be leading the Prayer Service. \nThe message of Easter prevails and unites us: Life is stronger than death. The light of Hope will not extinguish. \nBookings essential to send you the Zoom link. \nBook here

SUMMARY:Canberra Pilgrimage
DESCRIPTION:“I want you to look in the mirror and ask\, where was I when Gaza was going through a genocide?” \n– Rev Dr Munther Issac \nThis lent (covering both western and eastern calendars)\, a global movement is walking in prayerful solidarity with the people of Gaza\, calling for a ceasefire. \nThe pilgrimages spanning 173 cities in 19 countries\, have been organised by Christian groups and leaders in response to the calls of Palestinian Christians in the Holy Land and the diaspora asking for support from fellow Christians across the world. \nThe pilgrimage symbolically mirrors the walk from Gaza city to Rafah which Palestinians have been forced to take because of Israel’s military assaults and forced evacuations. \nThe Canberra GCP walk will begin at Mt Ainsley at 4am and will finish at 4pm with Joint prayers on Federation Mall in front of Parliament House. \nThe walk will take between 12 hours with designated stops for pilgrim walkers to join: \nLEG 1: Mt Ainsley to Canberra Mosque \nLEG 2: Canberra Mosque to the Australian Center Christianity and Culture (ACCC) \nLEG 3: ACCC to Regatta Point lookout \nLeg 4: Regatta Point lookout to Old Parliament House \nLeg 5: Old Parliament house to 2x laps of Parliament House and finish on Federation Mall \n\nAsk yourself\, ‘What would Jesus want’? \nRegister your details and accept the terms and conditions to receive the Gaza Ceasefire Pilgrimage Toolkit. The intention of the walk is to immerse ourselves in prayerful solidarity with the people of Gaza. Come\, walk with us. \n\nCLICK HERE TO SEE WALK SCHEDULE AND DETAILS \nWe are raising funds as we walk. \nThe funds will go to PCIA and will be distributed as follows: 1/3 to go towards housing Gaza families arriving in Australia\, 1/3 to helping Gaza families currently in Gaza and 1/3 for advocacy work. Please donate to our cause. Every dollar helps \nDonate Now

SUMMARY:The Experience of Christians in the Holy Land
DESCRIPTION:Costandi Bastoli is a Palestinian Christian\, born and raised in Jerusalem. He migrated to Australia in 1969 and has led pilgrimages to the Holy Land since 1991. Costandi is Lieutenant Emeritus of New South Wales Lieutenancy of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem\, which he founded in 1995. The popes have entrusted this Order with the care and support of the Christians in the Holy Land. He is married to Barbara and they have five children and seven grandchildren. For the past 6 months he has led nightly prayer on zoom\, calling for ceasefire\, justice and peace. \nPalestinian Christians have a powerful voice and witness in the current escalation of Israeli genocidal violence in Gaza but they have largely been ignored by the global church. Come listen as Costandi Bastoli shares with us about his personal experience as his perspective on what is currently happening in Palestine. Questions are welcome. \nJoin Zoom Meeting

SUMMARY:World Week of Peace
DESCRIPTION:During this week\, which includes the International Day of Prayer for Peace on 21 September\, church organizations\, congregations\, and people of faith are encouraged to bear a common witness by participating in worship services\, educational events\, and acts of support in favor of peace and justice for Palestinians and Israelis. \nWhile commemorating 75 years of Nakba (catastrophe) of the Palestinian people since 1948\, the preparatory committee for this year’s materials questioned the injustice in all this for the family and chose the Bible verse Matthew 8:20 to lay down the issue as presented by Jesus Christ: “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests\, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” \nFrom this verse comes the theme of the 2023 World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel\, “No place to lay my head\,” reflecting the challenge for Palestinian families as well as other people facing difficulties to a uniting home. \nJoin our online event via zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85361861923?pwd=Y1dWSFVIbk1kcWIrZVpjQnBDQnQyUT09

DESCRIPTION:Online webinar featuring Wisam Salsaa hosted by Sabeel Australia\nOur May webinar will feature Wisam Salsaa. This will be at 5.00pm on Saturday\, 21 May. \nWisam Salsaa is the owner and manager of the Walled Off Hotel\, a boutique hotel in Bethlehem which was designed by anonymous London-based artist Banksy alongside other creatives and notable academic Dr David Grindon. Established in March 2017\, and initially set up as a temporary exhibition\, the hotel has since attracted thousands of visitors\, thanks in part to its location opposite a portion of the Israeli apartheid wall. The hotel is considered to be a key piece of social commentary on the Israeli occupation and is billed as having “the worst view of any hotel in the world.” \nIf you have not already registered for this series\, please do so here:\nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZcuceuvqDIvHdeCm6GqXDpdUSmKo0uH8Skz \nRegister here
